Diane Foxley, founder member of The Embroiderers’ Guild on the IOW, kindly opened our exhibition, pictured with Carys Gladdish, Chair of the Isle of Wight Embroiderers.
Around 1300 visitors attended the exhibition, where each was invited to vote for their favourite piece. After all the votes were counted, the winner of the ‘Mary Starling’ trophy was:
‘Moon At Steephill Cove’ by Suzi Ratcliffe, an original design.

In second place, ‘Meadow Jewels’ by Caroline Henshaw, a Rowandean Kit.

In third place, ‘Oriental Garden’ by Patricia, an original design

In fourth place, ‘Seagulls on a Summers Day’ by Dawn Bast, an original design

In fifth place, ‘Open the Window’, by Debbie Simmonds, a Nancy Rossi kit.

There were 150 comments in the Visitors book. All extremely positive and recognising the amount of work involved in each piece. So many times the words “beautiful”, “wonderful”, “lovely” and “fabulous” were used.
